By combining the findings of many individual studies, we can identify commonalities and differences within and among ecosystems in their responses to global change. We are leading a collaborative effort (CoRRE) aimed at examining the variation in herbaceous ecosystem responses to global change. This synthesis effort provides insight into the factors underlying the trajectory and predictability of shifts in community composition and ecosystem function in response to global change manipulations.
